Cranberry Harvest Tour

QuietCranberriesAtHarvestOur flagship tour! Guided by 5th generation cranberry grower, Brenda Conner.

Come out and see for yourself what happens on a working cranberry farm! Start in our new Heritage Hall, where 5th generation cranberry grower, Brenda Conner will present “Cranberries, NJ & You.” Learn about the native agriculture difference and how the cranberry industry preserved the Pine Barrens, the largest wilderness area between Boston and Richmond. In about 45 minutes Brenda will cover a lot of local history and cranberry culture through personal stories and entertaining, but little-known facts. (Brenda is always happy to answer questions too, so don’t be shy!)

Next, it is out to the bogs on our specially designed bus. Every seat is a window seat with panoramic views. Unlike demonstration farms, your experience will take you right into the heart of a working cranberry farm. See the crews picking and gathering the fruit as they work in a sea of floating cranberries. Brenda will narrate and explain everything that is happening as the crew works to water harvest the cranberries … it’s even better than the two guys from the commercials!

And a trip to the farm just wouldn’t be complete without the opportunity to eat some cranberries!! Enjoy a cooking demonstration that will include family recipes as well as those from Brenda’s own kitchen. Learn about the health benefits as you get to see and taste cranberries prepared in a variety of ways. Throughout the presentation lots of easy serving and gifting ideas will be shared and all participants get a free recipe booklet.

Expect to spend approximately 3 hours experiencing everything cranberry!
Tours run the month of October. Tours begin at 9:00 am

Enjoyed the lecture/ history/backround before the tour. Loved the field experience on the bus. Thoroughly enjoyed the cranberry tasting. We certainly will try the recipes from the cookbook. We have a new appreciation for the cranberry and blueberry and the farmers who provide these crops for us. We bought and tried the honey, salsa, jam, cranberries and now proudly wear the “Go Native” hat. Thanks for a most enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back and bring our friends and family. This experience will now start a new tradition for us! Now the fall season will not be complete unless we see a cranberry harvest!

The staff is friendly and full of fun and historical facts. The samples of cranberry recipes was wonderful, especially the cranberry salsa which is great. This is a working farm, and you get to see the process from vines to transport trucks. We loved it!

Review:
From the moment we arrived, we were treated as special guests of the farm. The introductory talk was informative. The bus tour out to the bogs was amazing — we were right there! But it was the food tasting at the end that put this experience over the top. The price tag looked a little steep when I first saw it, but it is an incredible value for the personalized attention and unique access. I absolutely cannot say enough good things!

Review:
Lecture was VERY informative AND fun, the tasting, recipes, and recipe books great, and the tour was awesome…… we got to see the whole process along with the very interesting commentary. The bus was comfortable. All the people involved made even effort to be thoughtful and enthusiastic. Even the mention of what it takes to help employees be their best is an important concept that is too often ignored by employers. We all had an awesome time!
